Economic Evaluation of Small Public Office Buildings with Class 1 of Zero Energy Building (ZEB) in Korea by Reflecting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

This study summarizes the technology level and economic feasibility of two small 500 m2 public office buildings that achieved a first-class Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB) certification for first time in Korea. In addition, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) reflecting ZEB performance operation stage was analyzed, LCA factors considering characteristics were reviewed. Moreover, an analysis performed through Net Present Value (NPV) by LCA, results showed little feasibility. However, adding environmental costs calculated to existing energy-saving could offset additional 11.6–11.7%. Therefore, including impact cost these evaluation techniques be positive step toward increasing effectiveness applications. is significant it conducted comprehensive terms carbon reduction certification, but limited only cases.
